Fun Day Monday

Hello and Happy Monday to you all, I can’t believe that another week has passed and we’re back at Monday again!

We’ve been having a great time in my childminding service all week sharing our book of the week which was, “Driving My Tractor” and doing lots of tractor and farm related activities.

If you don’t have a copy of the book you can always download the animated version from You Tube ….. we had a watch of this and it really got the children dancing and trying to sing along…. it amazes me how quickly they can pick up the words to songs and stories already.

To accompany our dancing and singing fun we also made some shape pictures of tractors.

If you want to have a go you will need the following:

  • Coloured card or paper
  • Piece of white A4 card or paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

and this is what you do:

  • Cut out 1 x large square, 1 x smaller square, 2 x large circles, 3 x medium circles, 2 x small circles, 1 x large rectangle, 1 x oval, 2 x small triangles
  • Sit with your little one and show them the shapes and give them the glue stick (if you want to extend this activity, you can talk about the shapes and their colour)
  • Get your little one to glue the shapes onto the white piece of card or paper making up a tractor shape with a trailer that has a pig in it

(see the picture below to see where the pieces go – you will notice that I have drawn in a line between the tractor and the the trailer to connect the two!)

If you want to have a go at this activity and want a template for the shapes just email me at: hello@victoriadalechildminding.co.uk and I’ll send you the one that I made.

Have fun!

Does your little one like to draw and doodle? If they do you might want to check out the Curious Doodle Day at St Mungo Museum of Religious Art and Life this Saturday (18th August) from 1pm until 4pm

Go along and help create a huge piece of artwork with friends, family and others. Be inspired by objects, music and each other.

This event is free and open to all ages and abilities. Paint, pens and protective clothing will be supplied.

For more information, visit the Glasgow Events website.

If you can’t go, why not get the pens and paints out and have a big doodle at home instead!

Fun Day Monday

Well, after a busy weekend sometimes we all need a nice quiet activity to keep our little ones amused and ourselves sane!

Today’s activity is one that keeps my little boy happy and quiet for a little while and will hopefully keep your little one amused too!

All you need for this activity is a little basket or bag that is safe for your little one to have (no plastic bags) and some tins and cartons of food  (nothing too heavy – you can always use empty cardboard cartons if you’d rather).

I set this up by putting a few things in the basket and placing the basket on the floor in the kitchen and then just let my little one pick the tins up, look at them and put them in and out of the basket. To extend the activity we talk about what is in the tins/ cartons and what colours they are. We also count the tins and cartons into and out of the basket. Amazingly something as simple as this can keep your little one quiet and engaged for quite some time.

Have a fun week…..

If you have any ideas for fun activities that you would like to share with me please drop me an email at: hello@victoriadalechildminding.co.uk

What’s On Wednesday

Fun Day Monday

Hi all,

I hope that you have had a lovely weekend and that you are ready for a fun time this week.

We have lots on at my childminding service this week but thought we’d share one of our current favourite activities with you for this week’s Fun Day Monday…..

We just love getting out the crayons and drawing! I give the children large pieces of paper on the floor and they have wax crayons and pencil crayons that they draw with. They love choosing different colours to draw with and enjoy being able to get onto their tummies and draw away. It’s a great activity to help your little one improve their fine motor skills and get used to handling pens and pencils. To extend the activity further, you can also talk to your little one about the colours that they are using and ask them what they are drawing.

Have a fun day this Monday…..
