The ABCs of Christmas….. P is for PEPPERMINT CREAMS

One tradition that my parents started and that I now like to continue is making homemade sweets. A lot of the sweets we make involve boiling sugar and aren’t the safest to make with little ones about but something that is easy and safe to make with your little one is Peppermint Creams and if cut into festive shapes such as stars and trees they can be very Christmassy!

To make your own Peppermint Creams you need the following:

  •  300g icing sugar
  • 125g condensed milk
  • ¼ tsp peppermint extract
  • A mixing bowl
  • A spoon
  • A baking tray
  • Greaseproof paper
  • Cookie cutters
and you need to do the following:
  • Line the baking tray with the greaseproof paper
  • Place the icing sugar, condensed milk and peppermint extract into a bowl and mix together
  • Dust a clean surface with some more icing sugar and roll out the dough to a thickness of about half a centimetre
  • Use the cookie cutters to cut out the shapes that you want and place them onto the baking tray
  • Place the peppermint creams into the fridge to set for an hour
  • Enjoy your peppermint creams or package up in a box to give to someone else to enjoy… they make the perfect gift from your little one!
