The ABCs of Christmas….. R is for REINDEER

Happy Monday everyone! Can you believe we’re almost there? Christmas is well and truly on it’s way and we’re nearing the end of our ABCs. Today’s entry is for “R” and is all about reindeer!

Is your little one familiar with Rudolf yet? In my childminding service we have been having lots of fun making our own Rudolf hats and singing along to Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer and doing the Reindeer Hokey!

If you want to make your own Rudolf hat you need the following:

  • A couple of brown foam sheets (or you could use brown card if you don’t have any foam)
  • Googly eyes
  • Red Pom Pom
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape

and you need to do the following:

  • Cut out two long strips about 7cm wide from the sheet of foam or card
  • Using the double-sided tape ┬ástick one strip to another to make one long strip
  • Now measure this long strip around your little one’s head and stick together to make a hat – you may have to cut some excess foam off
  • Get your little one to stick the google eyes and the red pom pom onto the front of the hat
  • Taking the pen draw around your little one’s hand and arm on the remaining pieses of foam
  • Cut out your little one’s foam antlers
  • Using the tape, stick each foam antler onto each side of the hat
  • Now put it on your little one’s head and sing Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer together!
