The ABCs of Christmas….. W is for WREATH

We had great fun in my childminding service last week making some really simple paper plate wreaths. The children had a great time painting and decorating them and now my little one’s takes pride of place on his bedroom door!

If you want to make a wreath with your little one then you will need the following:

  • A paper plate
  • Scissors
  • An apron for your little one
  • Some paper to protect your table
  • Green paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Pieces of green paper cut into squares (I used tissue paper)
  • PVA glue
  • Festive sequins
  • Glitter
  • Ribbon
and you need to do the following:
  • Firstly cut a circle out of the middle of the plate to make the wreath shape
  • Put the apron on your little one and the paper down on your table…. this activity can get messy!
  • Give your little one the green paint and the paintbrush and let them cover the paper plate in paint… you will notice that they enjoy painting the hole!!!
  • Allow the paint to dry
  • Once the plate is dry cover it in PVA glue and then let your little one go for it with the cut out paper, sequins and glitter (remember to supervise them if they’re using small parts)
  • Allow the glue to dry
  • Now hang the ribbon around the plate and hang your paper plate wreath up at the door
An easy but fun activity for your little one to do without too much help from you!
