Fun Day Monday

Can you believe that Monday is upon us again? I hope that you all had a fun weekend… we had a lovely one with a family day in the garden on Saturday and a day out with friends on Sunday…the perfect weekend!

Well, as promised here is another Spring activity for you to do with your little one this week. Here in my childminding service we have been taking a real interest in all of the flowers that we can see around us when outdoors and we have noticed that some of the trees on my street are starting to blossom. I have to admit I love this time of year when everything starts to come out and all the trees are covered in colour. We decided that it would be fun to make our own blossom trees and this is what we did:

If you want to make a blossom branch of your own you will need the following:

  • Small sticks with branches (we went to the park and collected ours)
  • PVA glue
  • A glue spreader
  • Pink or white tissue paper
  • Apron

and this is what you need to do:

  • Put the apron on your little one first
  • Tear the tissue paper into squares of about 5-6cm
  • Hand your little one the squares and get them to scrunch them up into small balls
  • Now give your little one the glue and glue spreader and get them to place dots of glue onto the branch where they’d like to stick a flower
  • They can now stick the scrunched tissue paper into place (you may have to give the paper an extra squeeze in place to ensure that it will stick)

  • Leave the branch to dry and then display (we have put ours on the wall with our chicks and lambs to make a Spring display)

Have fun making your own blossom branches
