Fun Day Monday

Father’s Day is on its way (Sunday 16th June) so here in my childminding service we have been busy making some lovely trophy cards for all the daddies.

To set up this activity we talked about important people in our families first of all and then focused our attention on our daddies and spoke about what we like about them and what they do to make us feel happy, safe and loved.

We then set about making our cards.

For this activity you will need the following:

  • white card
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • pva glue
  • lentils, split peas and macaroni
  • gold paint
  • paintbrush
  • apron
  • coloured card

and this is what you do:

  • Firstly draw a trophy shape onto the white card and cut out with the scissors
  • Put the apron on your little one and give them the trophy shape, the pva glue and the lentils, split peas and macaroni and let them cover the trophy all over (please supervise your little one doing this as sometimes the lentils etc end up in their mouth!)
  • You now have to leave the lentils, split peas and macaroni to dry onto the trophy

Once your trophy is dry you can start stage two of your card making:

  • Put the apron back on your little one and give them their trophy and the gold paint and let them paint all over the lentils, the split peas and the macaroni
  • You have to let this bit dry now too!
  • Once the trophy is completely dry, take your coloured card and fold it in half
  • Stick the trophy onto the centre of the card and there you have it…. a lovely 3D trophy card to let the daddies know that we think they’re number one!
