Fun Day Monday

Hey there…. can it really be Monday again?! I hope that you have had a good week and that you are up for a fun activity to do sometime this week.

As you know, we have been learning about our senses here in my childminding service and the last one that we talked about is the sense of touch. We had great fun exploring different objects and describing them with words such as soft, hard, bumpy, rough, smooth, cold, warm etc. To bring it all together we made some texture hands and below are the instructions for you to make some too.

You will need the following:

  • Card (I used pink but you can use any colour)
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue or double-sided tape
  • Cotton wool
  • Sticky tape
  • Sandpaper
  • Pasta
  • Bubble wrap

and you need to do the following:

  • On the card use the pen to draw around your hand
  • Cut the hand out
  • Write the words: soft, hard, rough, smooth, bumpy on the fingers (leave room to stick each thing on at the finger tip)
  • Get your little one to feel each thing and identify how they feel before sticking them in the correct place on the hand using the glue or the double-sided tape (you won’t need any for the sticky tape as this can be stuck straight down in place)
