Fun Day Monday

Hi there! Happy Monday to you. We have gone a bit fire engine mad in my childminding service at the moment so I thought I’d share an activity that we did last week.

This was a great activity for shape and colour recognition and a bit of listening too. If you and your little one want to make a fire engine picture you will need the following:

  • Red paper
  • Blue paper
  • White paper
  • Black paper
  • Yellow paper
  • White card
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

and you will need to do the following:

  • Firstly cut out 1 x large red rectangle, 2 x small black circles, 1 x long black rectangle, 1 x white square, 1 x smaller black square, 1 x small blue rectangle, 6 x small white rectangles, 1 x yellow circle cut into a spiral
  • Now place the pieces out in front of your little one with a glue stick and the white card
  • Get your little one to find each shape at a time and stick them into place….. you can ask them what each shape represents and where on the picture it should go

What’s On Wednesday

Blast off!

If you and your little one (Pre 5) are not up to anything this Saturday, 18th January, then why not head over to GMRC for a fun session all about space.

“Children will take part in an exciting museum tour and then make their own space rocket.”

Sessions are on at 11am – 12 noon or 2pm – 3pm and are free although you must book your place. To book  you can either call GMRC on 0141 2769300 or email them at: GMRCBookings@glasgowlife.org.uk

Fun Day Monday

Hello! Happy New Year to you… I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and that you are ready to have lots of fun with your little one in 2014.

To get you started why not get the paints out and do some printing.

For this simple activity you will need the following:

  • Paper
  • Different coloured pre-mixed paints
  • A cupcake tray
  • A paint brush
  • Cotton buds
  • An apron

and all you do is:

  • Put the apron on your little one… this could get messy!
  • Turn the cupcake tray upside down and put blobs of different coloured paint on the flat surface of each upturned cup
  • Use the paintbrush to evenly cover the whole of each upturned cup
  • Give your little one the cotton buds and get them to draw a pattern on each painted circle
  • Now turn the muffin tray the right way round and push it with even pressure onto the paper
  • Hey presto, you have got your mega print…. have fun!
