About Me

Hello!

Deciding who is the best person to look after your little one whilst you’re at work is not easy. Having gone through the process myself, I know how important it is to find someone who you trust and feel comfortable about leaving your child with.

So, why choose me as your child’s childminder?

I have worked with children periodically for fifteen years in a variety of different roles and love the energy and fun that children bring to all situations. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and I have taught in Secondary and Primary schools as well as in a school specifically for children with special needs. I am qualified to teach French but I am also experienced in planning and delivering a range of different subjects at primary level.

In addition to teaching I have also cared for and educated children in a variety of settings. I have worked as a private nanny for a 2 year old and a 5 year old as well as 7 year old male twins. This involved caring for the children in their own homes and providing fun and stimulating activities for them to do on a daily basis. The children and I really enjoyed this time together as we would choose a theme for each week and carry out all sorts of creative, musical and physical activities to fit the theme allowing the children to enjoy themselves and have fun whilst learning new skills and information. I have worked as a home tutor teaching French and I have also run a variety of children’s clubs, mostly in French.

More recently, I have worked as a volunteer for Glasgow Museums and Galleries and have played a supportive role at the Saturday Art Class for children aged 3-11 delivered by GOMA. I have also planned and delivered informal learning sessions for children and their parents at Glasgow Museum Resource Centre.

In August 2010, I became a mum to our little bundle of energy, called Noah, and then in 2014 I had twins, Freddie and Lottie, so I have first hand experience of caring for young children.

I run my childminding service from our home in the South Side of Glasgow and have dedicated spaces for the children to recognise as their own in which to play, eat and sleep. I live close to Newlands Park where there is a swing park and lots of space for us to play outdoor games, go on nature trails and to have picnics. We attend a variety of children’s groups in the local area giving the children the opportunity to socialise with others whilst learning new skills. We regularly visit the library as well as other places of interest in our community such as The Burrell Collection and The Tramway. I also like to allow the children in my care to learn from every day experiences such as going to the shops or to the Post Office to learn how to carry out day to day activities such as shopping or posting a letter.

I can offer the flexibility that other childcare providers may struggle to deliver and, whilst I have my set hours, I am always happy to try and negotiate what would suit you and your family best. As a mum myself, I can appreciate the importance of having a childcare solution that fits in with your family life and will do my best to accommodate all the families who I work with.

I have completed the Scottish Childminding Association’s (SCMA) Induction Training for childminders as well as Child Protection Level 2, Getting It Right For Every Child, Building the Ambition, Play Development and several Paediatric First Aid courses. I have also completed a storytelling course for 0-4 year olds held at the Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. I have Public Liability insurance and I am a member of the SCMA.

Please do not hesitate to Contact Me if you have any questions about my background, my training or any other aspect of the care that I offer.
