Fun Day Monday

Now, I know that we do not like to think about Christmas until it’s almost upon us but it will soon be the 1st December which means that it will be the start of advent so why not make this easy advent calendar with your little one to help enjoy the festive season together.

All you need is:

  • 24 envelopes
  • 24 pegs
  • String
  • Pens or number stamps
  • 24 little cards to place in the envelopes

and all you do is:

  • Mark up each envelope with the numbers 1 – 24 using the pens or the number stamps   Your little one can embellish them too…. we all love a bit of colour and glitter!
  • Write out lots of different treats on the cards and place each card in an envelope. You can choose simple things like a family trip to see the Christmas lights, a Christmas movie night, a Christmas story at bedtime….. you get the idea!
  • Now hang the envelopes up on the string using the pegs and get ready to countdown to Christmas

Have fun!

The ABCs of Christmas….. A is for ADVENT

Hello all,

Welcome to my Christmas feature…. the ABCs of Christmas! The plan is that I shall post up a blog entry every day through December to help you through the pre-Christmas madness with some suggestions to keep your little one occupied.

So, today we’re starting with “A” and as it’s the 1st December I felt it was appropriate to share some advent ideas with you.

We don’t have a traditional advent calendar in our house, instead we have what we call the Advent Tree where we hang up labels with the date on the front and a small treat for each family member written on the back. The treats are often something simple such as writing a letter to Santa, going into town to see the Christmas lights, reading Christmas stories at bedtime, making Christmas sweets and treats together and so on. There’s always much excitement in the morning to see what our treat for the day will be!

Have fun and I’ll be back tomorrow with a suggestion for “B”
