The Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Glasgow Museum Resource Centre

Bring along your teddy bear to GMRC on Monday 7th April from either 11am to 12 noon or 2pm to 3pm to have a picnic in the pods! Help find all the pieces from the picnic basket that have gone missing and then decorate a healthy little treat to go inside your very own picnic basket.  

This activity is free and is for Pre-5s and their carers.

What’s On Wednesday

It’s Family Friendly Weekend time at the Glasgow Museum Resource Centre again!

If you have no plans on Saturday March 29th and Sunday 30th March then why not pop along for some family fun.

You and your family can explore their vast collections and then have a go at crafts and activities inspired by their art, natural history and transport collections.  The half-hour tours are a great way to discover the weird and wonderful treasures housed in Glasgow Museums’ amazing object store.

To take part in these fun crafts and tours you can just drop in… there’s no need to book!

Join them on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March with the Arts & Crafts at 11.00am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 3.30pm and the Tours at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm

What’s On Wednesday

Hello! It’s been a while hasn’t it?! Sorry for my absence… blame my lack of technical skills! The blog programme updated…. and I didn’t! Anyway, thanks to the lovely Marceline Smith www.marcelinesmith.com all is back on track and I can reach out to you once more!

Seeing as it’s Wednesday let’s start off with a “What’s On Wednesday” post……………………………….

If you are looking for something to do this Saturday then why not head along to Glasgow Museum Resource Centre for some Creepy Crawlie fun or to the Burrell for some Chinese New Year Dragon making.

Wee Beasties at the Glasgow Museum Resource Centre  

“A fun hands-on adventure exploring our wonderful creepy crawlies. Watch out for that hungry caterpillar!”

This is an activity for Pre-5s and is on from 11am – 12 noon or from 2pm to 3pm on Saturday 8th February. This is a free activity but please call 0141 2769300 to book a space.

Burrell for Families – Dragon Makers at the Burrell Collection

“Celebrate the Chinese New Year and make your own Dragon”.

This is a free activity that is on from 2pm to 4pm.

What’s On Wednesday

Blast off!

If you and your little one (Pre 5) are not up to anything this Saturday, 18th January, then why not head over to GMRC for a fun session all about space. 

“Children will take part in an exciting museum tour and then make their own space rocket.”

What’s On Wednesday

Is your little one super excited about Christmas yet? If they are why not take them to Glasgow Museum Resource Centre on Saturday 14th December for their “The Long Wait ’til Christmas” event. You can sing some Christmas songs and create some festive costumes…. sounds like fun!

It is on for under 5s and is either at 11am to 12 noon or from 2pm to 3pm

What’s On Wednesday

Do you have any budding percussionists in your family? If you do why not get down to GMRC on Saturday 9th November for a session they have called Clap to the Rhythm.

This session is aimed at pre-5s and is on between 11am and 12 noon and then again between 2pm and 3pm.

Enjoy some rhythmic activities with this African inspired workshop. Try your own rhythm clap and dance game.

The Big Draw is back….

If you want to participate then why not attend “Squiggley Doodley Dandy” on Saturday 26th October from 1pm – 3pm at GMRC.

Go along for an afternoon of unusual, fun and wacky drawing activities for all the family – also includes a short family tour.

What’s On Wednesday

Well, I don’t know about you but the last couple of days have really made me feel as if Spring is just around the corner!

Today’s “What’s On Wednesday” event is all about Springtime and looking at sprouting plants and even having the opportunity to plant some of your own.

This springtime event takes place on Saturday 16th March at Glasgow Museum Resource Centre and is at 11am – 12pm or 2pm – 3pm and is suitable for under 5s. This event is free but you need to call GMRC on 0141 2769300   to book your place.

If you don’t make it along maybe you could have a go at growing something with your little one at home. Check out this list of easy things to grow on the BBC to get you started.

 

What’s On Wednesday

Firstly, can I apologise for the lack of “What’s On Wednesday” post last week….. I was away and didn’t have my laptop with me so couldn’t get anything uploaded in time. To make it up to you I have two suggestions of places to go for this week’s post:

On Saturday 16th February you can find out how birds and aeroplanes fly and the differences between them before making your very own set of wingsat GMRC . This workshop is suitable for under 5s and is free. It is on at 11am – 12pm and again at 2pm – 3pm. To book a place for your little one give GMRC a call on: 0141 2769300

If you’d rather get dressing up why not head down to the Riverside Museum and go back in time for a vintage photo shoot which you can download and print out at home. You can do this for free on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th February from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. There’s no need to book but if you’d like more information call the Riverside Museum on 0141 2872660.

Pop! Goes the Incy Wincy Spider…… no I haven’t got my nursery rhymes all muddled….. “Pop! Goes the Incy Wincy Spider” is the name of this week’s event.

If you and your little one are free on Friday 26th October at either 11am – 12pm  or 2pm – 3pm you could head down to Glasgow Museum Resource Centre for this fun and interactive trail that explores some of the centre’s collections through traditional nursery rhymes.

This event is free to attend but you need to book ahead by calling 0141 2769300.
