Fun Day Monday

Morning! We’ve got another Spring activity for you today that we had fun doing last week.

It’s a very simple lacing activity which is great for your little one’s developing motor skills… it’s also a good activity for concentration!

If you want to have a go you will simply need the following:

  • A sheet of coloured craft foam
  • Scissors
  • A hole punch
  • A shoe lace or ribbon

and you simply:

  • Cut a large flower shape out of the foam using the scissors
  • Punch holes around the petals
  • Give your little one the flower and a lace and show them how to thread the lace around the flower

  • You don’t have to restrict your shape to a flower, you could do a simple egg shape, chick or a rabbit to make it an activity for Easter instead
  • To develop this activity further you could give your little one some beads to thread onto the lace too doing so in sequences (always supervise your child when sing small objects such as beads)

Fun Day Monday

Hi there,

A quick and easy activity for you today…. It was something that we did in my childminding service on Friday and it was a great success. It does involve the children using scissors so you will need to assess whether your little one is ready to safely use them themselves.

For this activity you will need the following:

  • Children’s scissors
  • Old cards
  • Paper
  • Glue stick

and you need to do the following:

  • Firstly cut the old cards into shapes that your child will like….. as it was Valentine’s Day on Friday we did hearts
  • Give the shapes to your little one to cut up using their scissors and let them cut them up into pieces
  • Once they have finished give them the piece of paper and the glue stick and encourage them to stick the pieces onto the paper to make a new shape and picture

14.02.14 - cutting practise

15.02.14 - Noah's cut up picture

Have a fun day!

Fun Day Monday

Well hello! Are you ready for some fun today?

Today’s activity suggestion is extremely simple but fun for your little one to do.

All you need for this activity is a colander and some soft and fluffy pipe cleaners.

Thread some of the pipe cleaners through the holes in the colander and then leave the rest next to it to invite your little one to do the same.

(excuse the photograph… something was obviously distracting the children when I took it but it gives you an idea of what to do!!)

This is a great activity that is good for your little one’s motor skills, easy to set up and mess-free.
