Fun Day Monday

Hello! Happy Monday to you………… how are you all? Yet another week has passed and we have a new activity to share with you.

We have started to look at our senses in my childminding service and last week we focused on SIGHT. We did quite a lot of activities to support this but one activity that the children really seemed to enjoy was looking for things in a discovery bottle.

If you want to make a discovery bottle of your own you will need:

  • A small plastic drinks bottle with a screw cap (cleaned and dried)
  • Rice
  • Corn kernels
  • Small objects (I used the following: foam heart, star beads, googly eyes, small figure, artificial flowers, buttons, pompoms and a toy traffic cone)

and you need to do the following:

  • Put in a few of the objects and then some of the rice and the corn kernels
  • Repeat until almost full (leave a bit of a gap at the top to allow the objects to move about in the rice and corn)
  • Screw the lid on tight
  • Let your little one look at the bottle and see what they can see (remember to supervise them just in case they can get the lid off)

Have fun making your own discovery bottle :0)
